Bridgeport, NJ – Seven was the magic number is Friday night action on the Spirit Auto Center Speedway on Triple R Truck Night! Tommy Kunsman and Alex Swift picked up their seventh wins of the season in their respective divisions. PJ Bozowski dominated the Speedway Entertainment All Star feature event for his fifth win of the season while Jack Jarvis earned his tenth Sprit win of the 2023 season.
A mid-pack starting spot did not deter Kunsman from racing to his seventh Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Micro Sprint victory of the season as well as his third win in a row! Kunsman’s success is also moving him up on the All Time Feature Winners list where Delaware resident, Luke Thomas is currently the leader.
Polesitter, Ethan Simpson jumped out front in the Blue Hen Construction No. 15s to lead the first four laps of the twenty-five lap main event. Dan Leaper was hot on his trail and raced into the lead on lap five as he battled with Simpson as they crossed the start/finish line. PJ Williams, who was the point leader going into Friday night’s race, raced in third behind the leaders with Joey Amantea and Olivia Haworth completing the top five.
Chris Fenimore raced into the top five on lap 7 with Kunsman and Connor Gross also on the move.
A lap ten caution saw Amantea get tangled up with two lapped cars. Amantea restarted at the rear of the field. A second multi-car incident on lap ten forced Amantea to retire early from the race.
After several attempts at lap ten, Leaper led the way when the lap was scored over Williams, Kunsman, Connor Gross and Simpson.
Leaper led the way through lap fourteen with Kunsman dogging him around the track. Kunsman was the race leader on lap fifteen followed by Leaper, Gross, Fenimore and Williams.
Leaper was very good for the first half of the race but his set-up didn’t work as well during the later stages. With five laps to go, Kunsman led Gross, Fenimore, Robert Pierce and Simpson. Olivia Haworth had raced her way into the top five but was tagged with two to go, turning the No. 44 into turn one with little time to make up any positions.
Kunsman took the win over Gross, Fenimore, Pierce and Simpson. Matt Smith finished sixth to move into the point lead with Sam LaMothe, Wayne Scott, Anthony Tramontana and Chris Turner completing the top ten.
Blake Eshem took the lead in the JC Fabrication 270 Micro Sprint feature withstanding the challenges of three time feature winner, Billy Gray. Gray made a bid for the lead on lap three but a caution negated his effort and when the race went back to green, it was Eshem who had the best restart.
Swift made his way by Gray to take over second. It was Eshem, Swift, Gray, Lee Nardelli who started at the rear of the field, and Nick Walton who made up the top five through lap five.
Swift put the pressure on Eshem for the lead , taking over the top spot on lap nine.
Nardelli worked his way into second with about five laps to go however, he never made it to the finish line after mechanical issues saw him pull off the track on the final lap.
It was Swift for his seventh win of the season over Gray, Pat Bealer in the Palmucci No. 16P, followed by Eshem in fourth and George Nardelli in fifth.
PJ Bozowski won his first race earlier this season and now the wins keep coming.
Bozowski raced into the lead on lap one, racing by Nick Bilello on the outside. Then raced away from the competition in the Speedway Entertainment All Star Slingshot feature and never looked back. Michael Beckett raced into second on lap eleven but was never able to close in on the leader as Bozwoski was a straightaway ahead of his competition.
Bozowski raced to his fifth win over Beckett, Brandon Oakley, Nick Bilello and Brayden Morrison.
Jack Jarvis did it again! The Delaware racer took his tenth win of the season in the Junior Slingshots, taking the lead from Carter Mullins on lap one. Mullins challenged Jarvis in the early going but it wasn’t long before Jarvos pulled away from the field
Jarvis took the win over Mullins, Cody Williamson, Christopher Buffalino and Austin Walls.
One more Friday night of racing remains with all four divisions celebrating their Champions for the 2023 season this Friday night. The Hyper Racing 600s and All Star Slingshots will come right down to the final checkered flag while Alex Swift and Jack Jarvis have already clinched the their titles in the JC Fabrication 270s and Junior Slingshots.
