Bridgeport, NJ – PJ Williams raced to his first Hyper Racing 600 Micro Sprint feature win of the year at the Spirit Auto Center Speedway on a night of racing sponsored by Cassidy Painting. Alex Swift maintained his perfect record as he put the Blanda No. 15 into Champion Brands Victory Lane for the fifth time this season. Brett Bieber traveled from Oley, PA for the first time this season and then captured the Speedway Entertainment All Star Slingshot feature event while Jack Jarvis added to his win total in the Junior Slingshots.
Wayne Scott, behind the wheel of the Hutson Industries No. 32H, raced with Julian Rexrode to take the lead on the first lap of the 600 Micro Sprint twenty-five lap feature. Bubba Hughes was the first to challenge for the lead before Anthony Tramontana and Chris Fenimore closed in to challenge the leaders.
A caution flag at the race’s halfway mark, brought the field together for the double file restart. It was a three car battle for the lead as PJ Williams and Tramontana challenged Scott for the lead. Williams came away with the lead at the crossed flags followed by Tramontana and Scott before a multi-car incident in turn four saw the Davis No. 14x with David Crossman go for a wild ride. All drivers were okay.
Williams had a clear track ahead on the restart as Chris Fenimore raced into contention, taking over second with ten laps to go.
Defending track champion, Matt Smith had the No. 33 wound up on the outside as he raced into the top five.
Williams raced to the win – his seventh on the Spirit quarter mile in his racing career. Fenimore finished second over Tramonta. Smith finished fourth with Scott rounding out the top five. Lucas Kostic finished sixth over Tommy Kunsman who rallied back after the red flag to finish seventh. Sam LaMothe was eighth followed by Steve Fleetwood and Julian Rexrode.
Williams dedicated his win to Chris Coyle who recently passed away. Williams was wearing a racing suit that he had borrowed from Coyle which will now be retired in Coyle’s honor.
In another late race pass, Alex Swift raced to his fifth win of the season in the Blanda No. 15
Nick Walton had the Palmucci No. 16P out in front and headed for the win when the caution was waved for Billy Gray when mechanical issues slowed the No. 18.
Walton battled with Swift, holding off the challenges of the defending champion until a lap seventeen single file restart saw Swift race to the inside on the backstretch. Swift had the lead as the field exited turn four. Swift led the final laps to clinch his fifth win of the season and his 45th Spirit victory. Walton finished second followed by Brett Estep, Dylan Pence and Luke Fogg.
Brett Bieber raced in his first All Star Slingshot race of the season at Spirit and came away with a win. This win was a special one for Bieber who collected the 200th win of his career.
Bieber raced John Laureigh for the lead on the start and then led all twenty laps for the win. Brandon Oakley made his way to second just past halfway but he was unable to mount a challenge on Bieber who was able to pull away on every restart. Oakley finished second followed by PJ Bozowski, Matt Kiefert and John Laureigh.
