Bridgeport, NJ – Five different winners collected feature wins on the Spirit Auto Center quarter mile on Friday night action sponsored by Cassidy Painting.
PJ Williams became the first repeat winner in the Hyper Racing 600 Micros while Sam LaMothe collected his first win of the season in the held-over feature from the week before. In Speedway Entertainment Slingshot action it was the team cars of Brandon Oakely and Jack Jarvis who took the wins in the All Star and Junior Slinghsots. The big story of the night was the new face in Champion Victory Lane as Nick Walton and the Ed Tyre’s No 16T won for the first time this season, ending Alex Swift’s win streak at six.
PJ Williams drew the pole and then led every lap from the green flag to the checkered for his second win of the season in the Hyper Racing 600s. Chris Fenimore, Dan Leaper, Anthony Tramontana and Steven Fleetwood mixed things up in the top five for most of the twenty-five lap feature event.
Tramontana picked his way through the top five, securing second in the final laps of the race.
Williams took the win adding another victory with him wearing the late Chris Coyle’s racing uniform. Coyle’s family asked Williams to keep winning in it before he returns to them. Tramontana finished second followed by Fenimore, Leaper and Fleetwood. Olivia Haworth finished sixth, coming from deep in the line-up followed by Jon Keller in the Barber No. 99B for the first time this season. Gary Bozowski, Ethan Simpson and JT Bierman rounded out the top ten at the checkered.
Sam LaMothe was the winner of the previous week’s feature. LaMothe took the lead at the start and then drove away from the field to earn his first win of the 2024 season. Defending track champion, Matt Smith finished second after making several early race challenges for the lead. Tramontana finished third and moved ahead in the current point standings. Gary Bozowski finished fourth with Julian Rexrode completing the top five.
Nick Walton battled with Andrew Locuson in the Palmucci No. 16P to take the lead and race to his first win of the season in just his second outing in the Tyre No. 16T in 270 Micro Sprint competition.
Walton led the way in the non-stop feature, with Locuson finishing second and six time feature winner, Alex Swift finishing in third. Joe Dopke finished fourth with Billy Grey completing the top five at the checkered.
Brandon Oakley raced to his fifth win of the season in the Speedway Entertainment All Star Slingshots in a race that had a rough time getting started.
Polesitter, PJ Bozowski ran into trouble on the start as he dropped to the inside of the track as Brayden Morrison took the lead on lap one. Oakley was challenging for the lead immediately, after starting behind Morrison in the line-up. Oakley had the lead as the field completed lap two.
Todd Martin took over second just past the halfway point and went on to collect the runner-up finish in his best effort to date. Morrision finished third followed by Tyler Lilick in fourth for his best finish to date. Joe Shone rounded out the top five at the checkered.
In Junior Slingshot action, Mackenzie Leary led the first two laps of the feature event before Jack Jarvis took over on lap three. Jarvis pulled away from the field leaving his competitors to fight it out for the top five.
At the checkered, it was Jarvis for his fifth win in a row over Austin Walls, David Morrison, Brendan Lilick and Tyler O’Neil.
All four divisions return to Fast and Furious Friday action on the Spirit quarter mile this Friday evening.
