Bridgeport, NJ – Chris Fenimore raced to his first every victory at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park’s Spirit Auto Center Speedway on Friday night with racing sponsored by Hyper Racing. Fenimore has been so close, so many times but finally sealed the deal with a green to checkered victory while holding off the challenges of a very persistent Tommy Kunsman.
Alex Swift put the John & Amanda Blanda No. 15 in position to capitalize when Pat Bealer’s dominant performance fell to mechanical woes with two laps to go. After leading right up until the final corners of the last lap, PJ Bozowski claimed his first victory of the season in spite of crossing the finish line in second place in the Speedway Entertainment All Star Slingshots. Jack Jarvis picked up his first win of the season over the largest field of Junior Slingshots ever in just the third season of competition for the Juniors at Spirit.
They are called Fast and Furious Fridays for a reason!
Chris Fenimore put the Cassidy Painting No. 92 into Victory Lane after leading every lap of the Hyper Racing 600 Micro Sprint feature event. Don’t be fooled! Fenimore may have drawn the pole but it was not an easy victory by any means. With Steven Snyder right behind the polesitter Anthony Tramontana and Kunsman right behind, this race would be anything but easy. Snyder raced in second for the first half of the race before Kunsman claimed the spot and began to work on the race leader.
Kunsman worked the outside, trying to make it work. He felt he was pretty even with Fenimore around the track but Fenimore held a definite advantage as they exited turn two.
Fenimore never yielded under the pressure and raced ahead of Kunsman to claim his victory. Anthony Tramontana continued his great start to the season to finish third followed by Geordan Marerro who bested Snyder for fourth after many laps of battling for position.
JT Bierman finished sixth followed by opening night winner, Kyle Spence, defending champion, Matt Smith, Bubba Hughes and Julious Rexrode.
Pat Bealer had the Palmucci No. 16C well out in front of the field throughout the 270 Micro Sprint feature event. Nick Walton raced in second in the Palmucci No. 16P but Bealer drove away from the field and any possible challenge. Swift raced into second on lap thirteen but Bealer was nowhere in sight of the runner-up position. Lee Nardelli, making his first start of the season, moved into third with just five laps to go.
The final laps of the race so first the No. 16P of Nick Walton come to a stop with just two laps to go. Then fate fell on Bealer’s No. 16c as the field prepared to complete the final two laps.
Swift was the benefactor, taking the lead and racing to the checkered for his second win of the season and his 50th win since pairing with the Blanda’s No. 15. Nardelli finished second followed by Billy Gray, Ken Andreas and Glenn Frye, Jr.
A five time feature winner last season, PJ Bozowski drew the pole for the All Star Slingshot feature event and led every lap until the final corners coming to the checkered flag. Brandon Oakley took over second on lap two and challenged Bozowski on every lap until the leader was able to put a little distance between himself and his challenger as Kristopher Surran moved in to work on Oakley.
Oakley was able to take the advantage as he and Bozowski raced to the stripe however, when the No. 680 failed post race tech, Bozowski was awarded the win. Surran finished third followed by Braden Morrison in fourth and Jonathan Laureigh in fifth.
The Junior All Stars put on a great race that saw defending champion, Jack Jarvis take the lead on the start but the positions behind him were changing constantly, right up to the checkered flag. Austin Wall raced home in second with Hannah Kormann racing to a third place finish in just her second outing. David Morrison finished fourth with Cody Williamson taking fifth on the final lap.
Cameron Thompson and Charlie Moore finished sixth and seventh respectively after battling with the top five for many laps. Gage Marerra finished eighth followed by Anna Stachko and Logan Showers.
We return to action among the same four divisions on Friday night with Alex Swift being the only repeat winner so far this season.
