Bridgeport, NJ – Friday night was the first night of three nights of competition for the 2021 Danny Serrano Skyscraper Spectacular. Six drivers earned starting spots in Sunday’s main events through Friday night action, all sponsored by Cassidy Painting.

Chris Fenimore set fast time for the Hyper Racing Evo Injection 600s in their first group of time hot laps. Past Champion, Matt Smith, making his first start of the 2021 season timed ninth in the first group but made some changes that enabled him to climb to the top of the speed charts as he set the fast time in the second group of timed hot laps.

Lee Reinhardt was the man to beat in the first group of timed hot laps for the 270 Micro Sprints while Tommy Kunsman, who has had limited starts in the 270 this season, set fast time in the second group of timed hot laps.

All four drivers earned re-draw spots for Sunday’s main events.

Tommy Kunsman raced to his third win in the last four races held on the Spirit Auto Center quarter mile when he raced to the win in the Skyscraper Showdown 600s on Friday night. Kunsman took the lead from Tim Buckwalter on lap two and raced away to the win. Pat Bealer finished second over Steve Bracall, Buckwalter and Eddie Strada after a race long batter for the runner-up spot.

Kunsman’s win will put him seventh in Sunday’s starting line-up.

In the winged 270’s Winner Classic it was Ross Perchak who went home with the win over 2021 Champion Alex Swift, Jason Swavely, Andrew Locuson and Matt Thompson. Perchak was a Skyscraper winner in 2019.

Pete Skias raced into the early lead, clearing Swavely for the top spot. When mechanical issues sidelined Skias, Perchak inherited the lead and Perchak made the most of the opportunity.

Action resumes on Saturday with double heat races where passing points will be used to determine the top driver. The All Star Slingshots will join the micro sprints for a triple header show.
