Bridgeport, NJ – After three successful racing programs have been etched in the record books in the early portion of the 2017 season, the Spirit Auto Center Speedway would like to announce their newly formed ‘Novice Series’. Car counts of 36, 35, and 49 wingless 600 micros have signed into the pit area throughout the first three racing programs. “So far, this has been just great,” said an excited Danny Serrano; Spirit’s General Manager. “We knew quite a few new drivers were getting cars this season. Some who have never driven ever, some who have moved up from 270s, some who have down sized from big cars, and there’s even some more who haven’t made it to the track yet,” Serrano added. “The Novice Division isn’t for any and everyone. It’s purpose is to get these drivers some extra seat time as they gradually adapt to the car and track and become more competitive with the rest of the 600 drivers.”
The division will run an 8-lap race that will constitute as their ‘feature’; just like the Crate/Sportsman Rookies do on Saturday nights. The winner will automatically transfer into the main event at the tail end of the field. The rest of the ‘Novice’ drivers will start at the back of the qualifying heat races that evening. A driver does not have to be a rookie to enter the series but must realize he/she will start last in their respective heats. There will be points kept and tabulated, where the top 3 will be recognized at the end-of-the-year banquet held in December. The champion of the 12-race series will receive $250, while 2nd place takes home $150, and 3rd place earns $100 for their efforts. This Friday’s program will not serve as a ‘point show’ for the RE/MAX Connection Realtors Novice Series. However, the series will make its debut this Friday with a non-point show for the drivers.
