Bridgeport, NJ – A very successful Sunday afternoon practice saw 36 ‘ACE Overhead Door Company’ micro sprint teams prepping for their 2018 racing season on a brand new racing surface. Well, those teams may just have the jump on the competition for Friday night’s season opener as the year-long championship points begin. After receiving a weekly winner’s purse increase to $500 weekly courtesy of ACE, the weekly competitors of Spirit will now have even more incentive to perform at a high level throughout the season.
P.I.M.P. (Promoting Importance of Micro(sprint) Popularity) has added to both the 270 and 600 championship point funds for 2018. The champions will now receive $1,000 at the year-end banquet for Spirit Speedway. “This is shaping up to be a great season at Spirit Speedway,” offered General Manager Danny Serrano. “With ACE jumping on board to boost our weekly events, and now P.I.M.P. adding to the year-end banquet, along with our Poker Series, and events like the Skyscraper and Bill Thomas Memorial, this season can’t come soon enough. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; although small in size, these guys have huge hearts for the sport and put on great racing throughout the Northeast. I think this will be a banner year in South Jersey for Micro Sprints,” Serrano added.
Action will resume on the 1/4 mile this Friday, April 13 as the ACE 270 and 600 Micro Sprints have their season opener. The REMAX Connection 600 Novice Series and the Speedway All-Star Bagel Stop Slingshots will round out the racing program. Gates open an hour early at 4:30 for safety inspection. Racing begins at 8pm.
